I had a very special first wedding anniversary yesterday and thank you all for such nice comments and well wishes this week on my blog, Instagram and Facebook pages! We spent the day at a spa in New York, at an old estate house near the Hudson river that’s been turned into a hotel. It was peaceful, quiet, and just what I needed after all those long wedding posts. I’ve been up late nearly every night this week finishing articles, so it was nice to face plant into a massage table and emerge an hour later with a forehead covered in smush lines and the knots worked out of my shoulders.
For those of you who don’t like weddings, I’m happy to tell you that it’s back to your regular programming next week here on She’s So Bright! I must admit, I am actually not a wedding person at all, and was a little jaded about planning my own day – particularly because three of my older sisters had big events in and around New York City. I suppose that’s one of the reasons we got married in France, to do something a little different. It was that or the little wedding chapel in Vegas! (True story: I wanted to be married by Elvis for our civil ceremony, and Jon said no! Missed opportunity, I think.)
We have another trip coming up – this one to a place I’ve never been but a region I love – and I’m looking forward to getting in a bit of pool time. I’ve been pretty desperate for a swim lately and have spent a good hour researching pool floaties because I’m that excited/desperate for water. I’ve also been itching to do more ocean and beach photography, but it’s been so hot that the idea of heading to the Jersey Shore seems ill advised. One thing I miss about not living in northern California is the cliffside views of the Pacific’s grey waves. The water is such a beautiful, moody color in the Marin Headlands and the weather so varied, that I could probably photograph it from the same place every day and it would look different. Our next travel spot should provide some great ocean scenery, so that’s something to look forward to!
And with that, I hope you have a lovely weekend! I’m looking forward to binge-watching Netflix’s new crime documentary, The Keepers, organizing some old paper samples after a big purge last week, and doing a little bit of online shopping (Yay or nay flamingo float?). What are your plans for the weekend, anything fun?
