I was watching a recording of the Olympics the other night over dinner, waiting for the Snowboarding halfpipe competition to begin when speed skating came on. I made a “hrumph” sound and quickly began to fast forward as quickly as possible to get through the recording. Who wants to watch speed skating? I thought. That is until I saw Koen Verweij and immediately paused my television. A self-proclaimed Viking and literal Adonis, the Dutch speed skater, is not only handsome but an incredibly talented athlete. He was announced as a favorite for the 1,500-meter race, an event he already won a silver Olympic medal for in Sochi, and though he didn’t make the podium this time, something tells me that he’ll be just fine.

Olympic crush? Definitely. New found love for speed skating? Heck yes!
