Happy Friday the 13th, friends! Are you as thrilled for the weekend as I am? I’m delighted, not only because I can binge watch as much Netflix as I want (I probably won’t do that), I’m also excited for the fact that I can sit outside and boost my vitamin D levels to above vampire levels. While the leaves are remaining wrapped in their buds like cocoons, I know it’s only a matter of days before color and life explode into the outdoors.

After a few grueling days of last-minute tax prep, Jon and I are have decided to take a nice hike around a popular New York State Park. It’ll be nice to get some fresh woodsy air, and I’m sure we won’t be the only people taking advantage of the nearly 80-degree weather on Saturday before it plummets to freezing and rainy again on Sunday. I know I said it last year, but it’s hard for me not to become a weatherman around this time of year – there’s just too much joy to be had from the sunshine and warmth!

Now that I’ve finished my latest bundle of romance novels, my reading has slowed a bit, and I’ve watched some movies and television. We rented Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and holy cow was that a great movie! So many fantastic actors, but Frances McDormand just blew the whole thing away. The writer, Martin McDonagh, is a very talented playwright who I’ve read and admired for many years, and who served as inspiration for some of my work in college. It’s exciting to see how well he’s honed his writing for films! We also started watching Parks and Recreation, a show I never really saw before. It reminds me so much of The Office, and I love all the actors – I’m hoping I can get really into it.

I’ve talked a lot about my sisters on this blog (because I have 4 of them!), but this home tour of two sisters living together made me so happy. Plus their style and personality are off the wall. I also thought this article about the information Facebook has on you was pretty frightening. And, via this article, I had no idea that when you buy something that says “Made in Italy” it may mean that it was made in Italy but by a Chinese immigrant. Interesting stuff!

And have you heard of the Disney star Bella Thorne? She’s a staple at music festivals like Coachella and is always caught by the paparazzi doing something un-Disney-like. But Vogue made a short film about her the other day, and I’ll be honest, I haven’t quite been able to get it out of my mind. Naturally, she’s beautiful, and like most people in the entertainment industry, she has endured overbearing relatives, pigeonholing, and the enormous pressure of celebrity. But, Vogue has exposed her differently, revealing more of who she is. Check out the video here:

I’ve always wanted to own a few wigs, but after watching that, I may actually consider investing in a few. Who’d like to see me go blonde for the day?!
