I often mention how I listen to Pandora radio. I like the service a lot because it introduces me to music I wouldn’t otherwise hear and it’s usually the way I discover amazing lesser-known talents. But a few weeks back, when Childish Gambino came out with his incredible music video titled This is America, I was shocked to realize that I had been listening to one of his songs all along! With a fantastic, electric beat, I had been grooving to Redbone for months on Pandora, thinking it was actually sung by a woman! (I know, I’m not very with it). I suppose I took the cover art a little too literally.
I now know this song was featured in Get Out, a film I’ve been wanting to see for quite some time but just haven’t gotten around to renting yet. It was only when Donald Glover performed Redbone on Saturday Night Live that I realized it was, in fact, a male voice! Talk about a convincing falsetto! Anyway, without further ado, enjoy the fantastic song Redbone:
Seriously good, right? I sort of can’t believe he’s going to retire from music – he’s a real talent. My favorite line is obviously, “my peanut butter chocolate cake with Kool-Aid,” not only because of how he sings it, but because chocolate and peanut butter is simply the best dessert duo ever created.
I bet this song will become one of your favorites, and unlike me, you’ll now know who sings it!

And if you didn’t realize the actor Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Community, and also soon to be Simba in the Lion King!) was also the singer Childish Gambino, check out these funny reactions.
