I was just out of the shower the other day, slathering on lotion when I realized something funny about this summer. I did not get a tan. At all. While I’m not sure if it’s the first summer that I didn’t go to a beach or hang out poolside, I just thought it was a message to myself for what I’m prioritizing in my life. And I’m thinking of that as I head into the fall. It’s a nice idea to be writing a lot, editing photos, or coming up with creative ideas, but it’s another thing when you’re taking less time to enjoy the outdoors and have fun with friends. My tan-less legs are an excellent reminder to take things less seriously and to relax more. Because no one ever regrets having fun.
And so, while my legs are currently sticking to the chair I’m sitting on (it’s that hot, even with air conditioning on high), my mind is looking a few weeks ahead to the fall. It is my favorite season, so I’m determined to make my best effort to get out and enjoy every single day of the crisp, leaf-falling weather. From day trips to camping trips, hot cider to fire pits, I’m awaiting the next season with all my senses eager for fall.
I’ve started off September with noticing the change in the flowers, hunting for a few colorful gems amid all the drying and dying foliage. These photos are what I found in my neighborhood – daisies going strong, and clusters of miniature roses holding together in anticipation of the new season. I love flowers, and I love that I can share them on here, with you too!
Now, onto some of the stories that grabbed me this week:
- Carmela from the Sopranos Wore Every Big 2018 Trend First.
- What I’d be like if I were on dating apps: Confessions of a Tinder Tourist.
- Why you shouldn’t be scared of cupping, a favorite muscle treatment of mine.
- Thoughts behind Hate-Following people online.
- And this article is for every wife who has to listen to her husband take credit for doing little things around the house.
The last one had me laughing so much that I shared it with Jon, who thankfully never takes credit for chores he’s done!
And so, with a few good articles and some atmospheric photos, you should be ready to take on the weekend. As for me, I’ll be trying to take everything a little less seriously. Have a great one!
