Forgetting the bucket hat trend of the late 90’s, I’ve gone from never wearing a hat in my life to having a growing collection for nearly every outfit. I wear a lot of hats on this blog, but they’re all mainly one designer: Janessa Leone. Her muted color palette and classic styles have an androgynous feel – soft feminine fabrics and textures, combined with the shapes and brim-sizes of traditionally masculine hats. I’ve even caught my father eyeing her fedora styles and wondering if they’ll fit his head.
While I’m well stocked up on felt and winter headpieces, lately I’ve realized that my wardrobe is rather lacking in straw hats. Lucky for me, Janessa Leone has just come out with a new Spring/Summer collection and it’s everything I’ve hoped to wear on warm, sunny days. Check out my favorite picks below!
I love the burnt color of this bolero, and the navy fabric perfectly offsets the stiff formality of its shape. Great for summer barbecues and roasting marshmallows in cutoff jeans, with legs smelling like bug-spray.
This would be my everyday grab and go hat during the summer. The multicolored straw goes perfectly with denim and the shape is simple, classic, and will look good on everyone. Swoon!
I love this warm gray, and the material looks so light and etherial. I’d wear this hat with white linen pants and an airy top for strolling along the boardwalk or touring the south of France.
Sleek and sophisticated I would save this holey hat for trips into NYC. I’m thinking black frilly romper or a breezy maxi dress.
Humphrey Bogart would be proud that I’ve got my eye on this classic white hat. I think there is nothing that says “I’m living fully in summer” than a white Panama.
Makes me think of salt-water taffy and a harmonizing Barbershop quartet. Sweet and coy, the Jade definitely has me singing into summer.
Ready to swing from a couple of vines, I think this might be a summer take on Indiana Jones’ famous hat. Short brimmed and ready to explore the jungle!
It’s clear I’m having a really hard time choosing, but I’m leaning towards the last. Which hat do you think will fulfill all of your summer dreams?
