I don’t have a lot of modern fashion icons, but when I think of Seams for a Desire blogger Jessie Kass, she checks all the boxes. The stylish Spanish beauty is a master of layering accessories, polishing off a look with an unexpected heel, and, my favorite, sporting a well-worn hat! Her outfits are classically put together (think tailored pants or blazer) but still feel incredibly with it – from the wristlet purse to the loose hairstyle and torn jeans.
I’ll be honest; I’m often not enamored by style blogs. They’re mostly comprised of a thin girl wearing the newest and most exclusive pieces, and it’s not exactly a hard formula to follow. Obviously, Kass is stunning, but it’s clear she’s not embracing the trends like everyone else. This is someone who loves style, has a collection of her favorite pieces, and knows herself in such a way as to dress impeccably. She often sports the same hats, shoes, and bags in different shoots, knowing that loved items are better and more earnest than having the newest designer pieces.
I think what I admire most about Jessie is how thoroughly she puts a look together. She is a master of layering. Each piece, individually, is simple and exciting but combined she takes it to another level. Sometimes she layers two jackets, or a handful of necklaces, while other times she pairs down a dress with a scarf or a flat pair of shoes. Her looks are never dull or expected, and are always dynamic. The accessories often enhance the drama, but never feel overwhelming on her face or body. She understands balance but also isn’t afraid of making a statement with her style. She also opts for flats when traveling or touring. It’s a perfect combination of relaxed and elevated.
And did I mention her hair and makeup? Simple, elegant and timeless. I actually took an image of her hair to my colorist to inspire variety in my own flat hair color. From braids to chignons and beachy waves, Jessie’s hair is the epitome of Pinterest Goals. And as for makeup, she seems to stick to the same, smokey-eyed sultry look, with earthy red lips and rouged cheeks. There are always variations, but they’re classic and beautiful. No reason to change what works!
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention. She’s also a mother to two beautiful children! She shares images of her kids here and there on her blog posts, and they are always adorably dressed. Maybe it is possible to juggle style and motherhood after all – it gives me hope for my future!
There’s only one slight problem with her blog…it’s almost entirely in Spanish! I do my best to muddle through the posts, but mostly I just enjoy looking at her photos, finding inspiration for my own style, and catching a few translated passages. No matter though, because style transcends language. Her blog would be just as excellent in Martian, and I would still be reading it.
And now, hopefully, you’ve got a bit of a girl crush on Jessie too!
