Chanel is my favorite designer brand and has been since I was a teenager. Like every girl at the time, I lusted for a black and bubblegum-pink wallet emblazoned with interlocking C’s to showcase my newly acquired driver’s license. Thankfully my tastes have evolved, and these days I’m still a fan, though I’m way more realistic about the over-the-top, exorbitantly priced items of the luxury handbag market. But give me any version of a birdcage veil and my scruples melt like hot wax to a flame.
Cue the Spring-Summer 2018 Haute Couture collection which has some of the most beautiful clothes and dresses I’ve ever seen. Between the incredible Marie Antoinette garden scene under the dome of the Grand Palais, the black and pink color palette, and the stunning embroidery details on some of these pieces, I have fallen in love with this exquisite couture line.
Enjoy the beautiful photos below!
So many lovely and delicate details on the dress above.
Meanwhile, ultra-feminine rosy cheeks and glossy berry lips punctuate each look. Boy, am I looking forward to trying out the corresponding makeup line for spring!
Check out this video of the show’s highlights below:
Karl, is that a beard I see?
And this making of video shows the pure skill and artistry that went into making this couture show:
Forget all the baggage that goes with high fashion, and for a moment, appreciate these clothes for the theater, art, and craftsmanship that they represent.
And now I’m feeling so inspired that I’m officially saying goodbye to the winter blues, and hello to an early spring. Florals here I come!
